Golfing in Barbados

Even as a small Caribbean island state, Barbados is blessed with a richness of quality golf courses, in fairly close proximity. With four world-class PGA standard courses and a fun 9 hole resort course at Club Rockley, Barbados is now quite a 'golfer's paradise'.

Apes Hill
A veritable gem of a golf course that will provoke the pros, appeal to the amateurs and still humour the high handicapper. Situated on 470 acres of gorgeous Barbados landscape, this elevated course provides spectacular coastal views and its natural topography provides a perfect location for a magnificent golfing experience. The course offers a treasure chest of features: undulating pasture-land, sheer cliffs, impressive Royal palms, coral stone quarries, sparkling lakes, wooded ravines, and fantastic golf holes. The layout of the 7,150 yards, par-72 course takes regard to the strategies players must adopt  for each hole and the course is kept in immaculate condition, with a strong commitment to the environmental stewardship. Access to the course is reserved for Apes Hill Club Golf Members and invited guests. Membership is offered to Club Property Owners exclusively.

Barbados Golf Club
Tucked away on the South Coast, the 18-hole Barbados Golf Club is a well maintained course open to the public that offers a very Barbadian welcome to visitors. Self-proclaimed as having become the 'soul of golfing' in Barbados, the course is known for its atmosphere of camaraderie, coaching programs and charming clubhouse which opens out onto an expansive triple green. Redesigned by architect Ron Kirby, the Barbados Golf Club is links-style, 6,705 yards and par-72. As Barbados' first public championship course it features superb greens - rolling hills, coral waste bunkers, wide open fairways and mature mile trees. A large central lake adds character as the cornerstone of the Bajan 'Amen Corner'. Additional amenities include a pro shop, warm up nets and putting/chipping greens. Groups are welcome and special golf events can be tailored on request.

Royal Westmoreland
Royal Westmoreland is a 500 acre gated estate on Barbados' West Coast. 150 luxurious homes set in beautifully landscaped gardens sit around a championship golf course designed by Robert Trent-Jones Jr.. At 7,045 yards, par-72 the impressive course demands use of every club in the bag - it is both challenging and visually spectacular; and a colonial-style clubhouse overlooking the 9th hole boasts amazing views, across the course, of the ocean

Sandy Lane
Sandy Lane offers three fantastic golfing experiences - two magnificent 18-hole championship courses designed by Tom Fazio and a lovely 9-hole resort course aptly called the Old Nine.  The Old Nine incorporates nine of the holes of the original Sandy Lane golf course opened in 1961. Pleasantly challenging it evokes a note of nostalgia and encourages players to carefully consider their game. The ultra-exclusive Green Monkey, at 7,343 yards, par-72 is considered by many the best in the Caribbean. The Country Club course hosted the December 2006 Golf World Cup and is attractive to golfers of all levels. Serving both courses is an impressive clubhouse with a pro shop, restaurant and bar offering coastal views across the grandeur of the Country Club course's par 3, 18th hole.
